PEFSA-IV is designed to address the acute food security situation and unmet needs in flood affected areas of 2011 and 2012. More specifically, project will assist 2012 floods affected districts with cash provisions, mainly conditional cash grants and cash for work, to cover immediate food needs, protect assets and dietary diversity for the most nutritionally vulnerable and food insecure families. For 2011 floods affected areas, project will provide conditional livestock and kitchen gardening support.
AWAZ Foundation in the partnership with CARE International in Pakistan (CIP) is implementing this project in 3 UCs (Umer Kot, Haji Pur and Jahanpur) of district Rajanpur. The objective of this project is to contribute towards improved food security and reduced excess mortality and morbidity from malnutrition among disaster affected communities in Pakistan. Under this project three modalities will be focused to increase the livelihood and decrease the malnutrition of the flood affected people. The project will work through cash for work, conditional cash grants and awareness sessions on nutrition and health &hygiene.
