BASELINE ASSESSMENT FOR INTEGRATED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM- ICDEP 2011-2014

The report comprises of baseline assessment of 84 villages of District Muzaffargarh, Rajan pur, D G Khan and Multan, where Awaz has been implementing its Integrated Community Development and Empowerment program.

The aim of the baseline assessment was to identify only 40 villages where Awaz should work during next phase of the program. The assessment was carried out through a specific tool designed in consultation with a group of proficient specialists who have been working in related areas for last many years. The analysis of the data and final selection of the villages was based on an innovative tool called village well-being index (VWI), especially developed for this assessment. The VWI was comprised of 66 indicators related to social, economic, gender and environmental well-being of the target communities. The findings not only enlightens about those 40 villages which are having least well-being ranking and where there is need of investing more resources in next few years, but also provide a phase out plan from remaining 44 villages.
